Current is offering new users a $175 bonus when they receive an eligible payroll direct deposit of $200 or more within their first 45 days. This is a limited time elevated offer. The normal welcome bonus is $100.

There’s promo code should automatically apply using this link, but if the app asks for one, you can enter RAYMONDW293.

Of course, this offer comes through my referral link, which helps support the site. If you choose to use it, a big thank you from me. You can also check with any friends who use Current, since this elevated bonus is available through all referral links and not targeted.

What you get: $175 bonus.
When: 10 business days after requirements are met.
Requirements: Receive a direct deposit of $200 or more within 45 days.

An eligible payroll deposit is a direct deposit that comes from your employer or from a government benefits provider. It is the same type of deposit you would normally receive on payday. Payments from gig work can also count as long as they come through an official payroll system.

Certain deposits will not qualify. These include transfers from apps like PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, Google Pay, and similar services. Moving money from one of your own bank accounts will not count. One-time deposits such as tax refunds also do not qualify. Mobile check deposits and cash deposits are not eligible either.

What Makes Current a Different Kind of Banking Platform?

After downloading the app and testing the features myself, I found Current to be one of the more modern, mobile-first banking platforms. The app is fast, intuitive, and packed with tools that help anyone managing their money closely, especially people living paycheck to paycheck or working gig jobs.

A few standouts:

  • 4 percent Savings Boosts with limits. You can earn 4 percent APY on up to 2,000 dollars per Savings Pod, with three Pods total for a maximum of 6,000 dollars. It is not meant for storing a large emergency fund, but it is stronger than what many mobile-first banks offer.
  • Round-Up Savings. This works like Acorns round-ups but without the monthly fee.
  • Gig workers qualify for the direct deposit bonus. Payroll from delivery apps and contractor platforms counts, which many banks do not allow.

What I Do Not Like

While I think Current can be a strong fit for the right person, it is not my primary bank.

  • The high APY is capped at $6,000. Anything above that earns a much lower rate, so it is not ideal for parking larger savings.
  • It is a neobank. Deposits are FDIC insured through partner banks rather than directly by Current. This is standard, but still worth noting.
  • Best for mobile-first users, not full-service needs. There is no branch access, and features are geared toward smaller day-to-day balances.

How Does Current.com’s Sign-Up Bonus Compare?

The bonus is solid for bankings platform with a low direct deposit threshold.  Here are a few other existing bonuses:

Final Thoughts

This is one of the easier bank promotions to qualify for. The deposit requirement is low at $200, and many users report receiving the bonus in as little as 10 days after meeting the criteria, making it one of the fastest bank bonuses available.

Overall, Current is a solid app with helpful tools for managing day to day finances, and the elevated bonus adds meaningful value if you are already considering trying it.

If the features fit what you need, this is a good opportunity to take advantage of the promotional offer.
